St Moritz in the Engadin Valley is the first ski resort that is accepting guests to pay for ski passes using the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

As per the SWI (swissinfo.ch) website, Swiss public television, SRF and the newspaper Südostschweiz, St Moritz lift company will be the first company to accept Bitcoin. Markus Melli, company director of St Moritz ski lifts told Südostschweiz he was not worried about the Bitcoin bubble bursting – despite its value surging from $1,000 (CHF990) at the beginning of the year to above $17,000 earlier this month.
He believes that they need to keep up with times, specially when it comes to digitalisation. They also accept Euros.
SWI also states that, according to Swiss Bitcoin specialists there are just over 200 companies in all sectors of Switzerland that accept payments in the currency.
