Why all-inclusive ski holidays become so popular

You’ve probably spotted that a lot more of your skiing friends have plumped for all-inclusive ski packages. We’ve always booked independent travel ourselves and so do most of our guests, but there are good reasons for the recent rise in all inclusive ski holidays, so we’ve done the research with top UK ski operator SNO, to bring you the low-down on the all-in skiing experience.

Let’s dive into the reasons, shall we?

  1. Smart Budgeting: With the economy having its ups and downs, knowing your full holiday cost upfront is a game-changer. Think about it: an all-inclusive deal covers your accommodation, meals, lift tickets, maybe even gear rentals. You’re not left guessing how much that après-ski hot cocoa will set you back!

2. Bouncing Back: After what feels like a forever-long pause (thanks, pandemic), everyone’s eager to get back to their favourite slopes or try out new ones. After an incredibly stressful few years, many skiers feel that all-inclusive trips make this return fuss-free. It’s like getting the VIP pass after a long hiatus.

3. For the Spontaneous Souls: As travel guidelines kept shifting, many made travel decisions on the fly. Instead of scrambling to book everything separately, these ski packages with everything included are like a one-stop-shop. For instance, some deals even throw in lessons so, if you want to polish your powder turns, it’s all sorted.

4. Safety in the Spotlight: It tends to be the bigger hotels and resorts offering inclusive ski holidays and people often feel confident those big organisations have stringent health protocols. For instance, during the recovery from Covid many maintained reduced capacities, more regular sanitization, and even exclusive dining options to give customers a sense of separation.

5. Dodging Currency Drama: Exchange rates can be unpredictable. By booking an all-inclusive in your home currency, you sidestep any unexpected costs. If you’re from the UK travelling to the Alps, you won’t be caught off guard if the pound takes a dip against the euro just before you set off.

6. Value-packed Adventure: With economies slowing down and inflation heating up, everyone wants to ensure they’re getting a good deal. Imagine getting not only ski passes but also guided mountain tours or gourmet meals in the package. Feels like a win, doesn’t it.

7. The Experience Matters: More than just a holiday, it’s about soaking in the whole experience, and for many (especially tired parents) a big point of the holiday is to relax with. You can definitely go skiing a lot cheaper in a self-catered chalet or apartment but picture this: waking up in a chalet with mountain views, savouring chef-curated meals, and having experts guide you around the best snow on the mountain – all without juggling multiple bookings.

8. The All-inclusive Buzz: Resorts are upping their marketing game. When they bundle so much goodness together, and maybe throw in night time entertainment, wine with dinner and even a free bar, it’s hard not to be tempted!

In a nutshell, all-inclusive ski holidays are gaining traction for the mix of convenience, value, and the promise of a seamless experience. It’s less of the hassle, and more of the pure, unadulterated joy of skiing. We’ll be sticking with independent travel but, for some, skiing holidays with everything included are the dream week in the mountains.
